Thought beats are where the listeners have to take into consideration the structure of the song e.g. Versus, Chorus, interlude. Also the voice of the song as the artist will have a unique identification within their songs. Finally how artists use songs to tell stories and how they get them across to the listeners.
Narrative and Performance
This shows that artists do not tell the full story to the listener so that they can make up their own meanings of the song to relate to their personal lives, which is important in order to keep people listening to the song over and over again.
The Star Image
The star image is where the artists have to dress and present themselves in such a way to match their target audience (e.g. 50 cent would wear gold chains and have expensive cars in the background) so that they wont lose fans or money.

Illustrate : Images to illustrate the meaning of their lyrics and genre.
Amplify : Meaning and effects are manipulated and constantly shown through the music video and drummed into the vision.
Disjuncture : This is where the meaning of the song is ignored.
Technical aspects of music videos
Technical aspects hold the music video together through the use of camera work, Mise-en-scene, movement, sounds and special effects.
